Curriculum Vitae of Nikolay Andreev Balchev

N.Balchev was born on March 31, 1949 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated the University of Sofia, Department of Physics, specialization Physics of Semiconductors in 1973. Since 1975 is working in the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP), Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Since 1978 is a researcher in the same institute. The research activity was in the field of electrophotography, electroluminescence and static electrification (1975-1988). He defended a PhD dissertation in 1987. The theme was "Electrophotographic properties and stability of CdS binder layers". Since 1989 is a member of the "Superconductivity and Superconducting Materials" laboratory of ISSP. Since 1997 is an Associated Professor. The main research activity is the synthesis and investigation of new superconducting and magnetic materials, namely:
1/ Synthesis and investigation of a new superconducting Cd-Ba-Ca(Y)-O material (1993-1998)
2/ Investigation of the tin substitution in the Hg-based and Pb-based superconducting systems (1995-2000)
3/ Investigation of the coexistence of superconductivity and magnetism in Ru-1222 and Mo-1212 systems and different substitutions in them (2004-2011)
